The modular stadium that will host Real Zaragoza’s matches for the next two seasons is now a reality. The project was carried out by the joint venture formed by Grupo MLN and Nussli Iberia, and includes both the construction of the sports complex and the complete urbanization and landscaping of the surrounding area.
With a capacity for 20,000 spectators, the stadium consists of four straight stands distributed over an area of 120 x 80 meters, oriented north-south. The complex will include food and beverage areas, ticket offices, an official store, and commentary booths for radio and television broadcasters.
In addition, an auxiliary module has been built adjacent to the main stand, housing changing rooms, a medical room, an anti-doping control room, VIP lounges, and other technical facilities necessary for the smooth running of the competition.
MLN Group: Key to Site Preparation and Infrastructure
Over the past few months, MLN Group has carried out several essential tasks to ensure the stadium can operate under optimal conditions:
- Demolition of the existing pavement across more than 40,000 m².
- Earthmoving and new paving work throughout the site.
- Perimeter fencing of the plot.
- Installation of sanitation, stormwater, water supply, low-voltage, telecommunications, and public lighting networks.
- Construction of pedestrian and vehicular access points, including the installation of turnstiles.
One of the most significant projects has been the installation of the natural grass playing field, which included technical preparation using layers of gravel and sand, and the installation of state-of-the-art drainage and irrigation systems, thus guaranteeing compliance with the requirements of the Professional Football League.
Furthermore, Grupo MLN was responsible for the installation of the four lighting towers, essential for meeting competition and television broadcasting standards.
A modern, efficient, and demountable stadium
The stadium’s modular design was developed by Nussli Iberia, allowing for efficient assembly and future partial or total reuse. All materials were selected to withstand intensive use, with robust structures for large-scale events.
This project not only functionally resolved the temporary challenge of La Romareda’s closure but also served as an example of technical collaboration, timely completion, and a commitment to quality.
