Architecture students participate in a workshop to learn more about the realities of landscape strategies in rural areas.

The aim of the course ‘Revitalizing Sparsely Populated Rural Environments: Landscape, Heritage, and Housing Strategies for the Arén-Sopeira-Betesa Axis (Noguera Ribagorzana Valley, Huesca)’ is to introduce final-year architecture students and those completing their Master’s theses to the realities of rural architecture. Organized by the School of Engineering and Architecture (EINA) at the University of Zaragoza, the course is supported by, among others, the Mariano López Navarro Chair of Civil Engineering and Building Construction at the University of Zaragoza.

Rural architecture reflects the history, culture, and needs of rural communities. Over time, it has evolved to adapt to changing conditions, but it has always maintained a close relationship with the natural environment and the activities typical of rural areas. Therefore, the workshop will combine visits to various built and natural spaces with lectures and working sessions. In this way, students will get closer to the reality of the rural environment and acquire the tools to work in similar conditions.
