The MLN Group has begun the redevelopment of the Doctor Zubía Roundabout, with the aim of improving pedestrian access between the historic center and the Paseo de las Cien Tiendas (Walk of a Hundred Shops). The work has already started and is focused on transforming the section of Duquesa de la Victoria Street between Juan XXIII and Beti Jai Streets.
This project includes the creation of a single-level pedestrian-priority platform approximately 70 meters long and with a total area of almost 1,500 square meters, which will allow for a smoother integration between the roundabout and the adjacent commercial areas. In addition, the water supply network and public lighting in the area will be upgraded.
During the construction, which is estimated to last about three weeks, traffic will be diverted on Duquesa de la Victoria Street to Avenida de la Paz. Beti Jai and Juan XXIII streets, as well as the section of Duquesa de la Victoria between Vara de Rey and the western closure, will only allow access to residents and authorized users, with entry via Calvo Sotelo street.
The complete renovation project for the Doctor Zubía roundabout will cover a total area of 13,000 square meters and will include paving, street lighting, street furniture, and the re-naturalization of the space using existing trees.
